Excellent commentary on our corrupt government. Hopefully the political trends occurring in Europe will spread to Canada. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

You’re not wrong, Steve - except that identifying the problem facilitates working on solutions.

Do you think the next govt in power will work to fix these issues, or will they also think “if it props up GDP, we’ll let it run”?

Your insight and analysis of past mistakes leading to our current situation is great and should be read by many…. But it begs the question - if we can’t rely on our politicians to solve these problems, then perhaps we can start brainstorming some and maybe raise a grassroots politician (Rich from TLH? Haha) who is willing to do what needs to be done to right the course.

Thanks as always for your effort on this.

Thank for this article Steve. Please keep digging into such root causes of excess demand to help policy makers build policies on reality (and not hype or fallacies).

Strangely I just heard a week ago about the immense level of corruption happening with these programs from someone who works with both employers and government. That person spoke about how common it is, how there are businesses which are really just a front for making money on charging foreigners for work permits. An example given, a recent arrival paid a huge sum in order to enter as a master carpenter. In fact, the immigrant has zero knowledge of any knd of carpentry. His "employer" pays him minimum wage to do unskilled labor. Since his arrival he has been trying to bring over his family. I was staggered hearing about this local (Fraser Valley) story but the extent of the fraud as described seemed unreal. Then: I got this report from Steve Saretsky. Let's call it what it is: treason by our elected "leaders."

How does this word get out more?

Housing is just the symptom. Canada’s issue is the debasement of its currency through money printing to fund all the spending its government can’t afford via tax revenues. There are consequences to shutting down an economy because of a virus and putting McKinsey on permanent payroll for no reason at all.
