Happy Monday Morning! Housing affordability is front and center these days, as it should be. We are currently sitting at the worst levels of housing affordability since the 1980s. If housing doesn’t get fixed, and quickly, the political careers of JT and his liberals are finished.
Another great email Steve. Can you share some insight into a comparison of housing price declines and eventual rebound 1990-2003 (or so) and what is happening now? I consider 1990-2000 a lost decade for home price appreciation, but certainly allowed buyers and future buyers years to pump up their savings. Curious for your thoughts.
With everything the devils in the details. When it comes to the Liberals I don't believe their reduction targets. This is all PR as it has been for the last number of years with this government. The foreign buyers ban? Doesn't apply to foreign students who have been used by offshore investors to avoid tax. And that was the intent by the government. Create loopholes but give the appearance of doing something about the demand side of housing affordability.
