Tying immigration to housing starts....wow! what a novel idea... a real genius concept.

You would have thought that by now someone in govt would have figured that one out ..but the

allure of increased GDP... is so mesmerizing that they can't see beyond it - the #'s have to look good.

Currently they are trying to dampen housing prices by jacking up interest rates....

All that has done is jacked up the cost of housing.....surprise surprise....supply and demand.... 50 immigrants only 10 houses.....hmmm....

Perhaps the thinking is we can all share the same

500 sq. ft sky box. or a tent in a park.

How cynic comment regarding immigrants with plenty of money though..

People coming abroad with available funds would purchase real estate in country with such price level as Canada currently is, in one situation only, just to avoid being roasted on local rental markets.

Overall, subjectively to me as an immigrant. time by time comments look like reflection of hidden canadian happiness with a current state of affairs with local real estate market.

Yea, our economy is on life support, but look at the glory of our real estate..which in fact reflect that this economy progressively moving back into medieval ages, when land was a basis for the national economies
